Stable, testing and dev — which channel to use

Support Updates

Every build here sits on one channel, and its version says which. The rule is the same one the repository uses everywhere.

  • Stable — a finished release, like 1.2.0.
  • Testing — a release candidate, like 1.2.0-rc.1.
  • Dev — work in progress, like 1.2.0-dev.3. By request.

Every channel is for approved accounts and their sites. Which channels your account may take is set when we approve it; your Account page shows them.

A site on testing also takes stable releases; a site on dev takes everything. When a final release comes out, it outranks its own release candidates, so a testing site moves on to it.

Which to choose

  • A site people depend on: stable.
  • A site where you try things before they reach the others: testing.
  • Dev: only when we ask you to try a fix.

Most of what is published today is release candidates, so a site on stable may be offered nothing yet. That is expected.

Changes

  • 2026-09-30 Every channel now needs an approved account.
  • 2026-09-29 First version.
